Although Internazionale began the 1990s as reigning Italian champions, the decade ahead would be one defined by success in Europe rather than at home. Inter reached four UEFA Cup Finals between 1991 and 1998, winning three of them under coaches Giovanni Trapattoni, Gianpiero Marini and Gigi Simoni. And this was a decade in which many of the world's greatest players played for the nerazzurri at some point, from the German trio of Brehme, Matthaus and Klinsmann at the start of the decade through a dazzling array of talent like Ronaldo, Zamorano, Recoba, Baggio, Djorkaeff and Zanetti.
